1. Purpose of Identity Verification
Identity verification at Brantford is a mandatory compliance measure applied to all registered accounts. The process is used to:
- confirm that the account holder is the individual identified in the registration data
- establish that the player meets the minimum legal age to participate in online gambling in the relevant province
- confirm that the player is not included on any self-exclusion list or prohibited-persons register
- support obligations under applicable anti-money-laundering and know-your-customer requirements
Verification is not optional. Completion of verification is a condition for account access and continued use of the platform. Accounts that are not verified within the required timeframe may be restricted or closed.
2. When Verification Is Required
Verification may be required at one or more of the following points:
- at account registration, before activation and before any gambling activity is permitted
- before a withdrawal is processed, whether or not basic verification has already been completed
- when account activity, deposit patterns, or other indicators trigger the need for additional review
- when updates to prohibited or excluded persons lists require a re-check of existing accounts
- at periodic intervals as part of ongoing account monitoring, even if no specific event has occurred
Players are notified through the contact details registered on their accounts when verification is required. Each notification specifies the documents needed and any applicable submission deadline.
3. Documents Accepted for Verification
The platform accepts government-issued identification documents issued by Canadian federal or provincial authorities. The following categories of documents are accepted for verification purposes.
3.1 Proof of Identity
Acceptable proof of identity includes:
- valid Canadian passport
- provincial or territorial driver’s licence
- provincial photo identification card
- Permanent Resident card
Documents must be current, undamaged, and clearly legible. Expired documents are not accepted.
3.2 Proof of Age
Proof of age is confirmed using the same types of government-issued photo identification listed in section 3.1. The identification document must display a date of birth confirming that the player is at or above the minimum legal gambling age in the player’s province of residence.
3.3 Proof of Address
Acceptable proof of address includes:
- utility bill
- bank statement
- government correspondence
The document must:
- have been issued within the past 90 days
- show the player’s full name
- show the player’s residential address
P.O. box details are not accepted as proof of residential address.
3.4 Additional Documents
In specific circumstances, the platform may request additional documents. These may include, but are not limited to:
- proof of source of funds
- bank statement showing account ownership
- a secondary form of identification
Any such request is communicated in writing with an explanation of what is required and for what purpose.
4. How to Submit Documents
Documents must be submitted through the secure verification section of the player account. Accepted file formats are JPEG, PNG, and PDF. Each file must be within the maximum size limit indicated in the submission interface. Images must be clear, in full frame, and free from glare or other obstructions.
Players must not alter, crop, or digitally modify any verification document. Submission of altered or manipulated documents constitutes a breach of account terms and may result in immediate account suspension and referral to the relevant authorities where required by law.
Documents are not accepted by email unless this method is specifically requested by the compliance team in writing.
5. Processing Timeframes
Standard verification is generally completed within three to five business days after receipt of a complete and legible document set. Where additional review is required, processing may take longer. Players are informed if an extended review period applies.
Accounts remain in a restricted state while verification is pending. Existing account balances are not forfeited during this period; however, withdrawals are not processed until verification has been successfully completed.
6. Re-Verification
Brantford may conduct periodic re-verification of existing accounts. Re-verification may be required in the following situations:
- submitted documents have expired
- applicable regulatory or legal requirements change
- account activity indicates that a fresh review is necessary
Players selected for re-verification are notified in advance and provided with a reasonable period to supply updated documents.
Failure to complete re-verification within the timeframe specified in the notification results in account restrictions equivalent to those applied during initial verification.
7. Data Handling and Privacy
Documents and personal information submitted for verification are processed in accordance with the Brantford Privacy Policy and applicable Canadian privacy legislation.
Submitted information is used solely for identity verification and related compliance purposes and is not shared with third parties except where required by law or under applicable regulatory obligations.
Documents are retained for the period required by applicable anti-money-laundering and record-keeping regulations. After the retention period expires, documents are securely deleted or anonymised.
Players may request information about the personal data held about them. Requests of this nature should be addressed to the compliance team using the contact details provided in the Contact section of this site.
8. Consequences of Failed or Incomplete Verification
If a player does not provide satisfactory documentation within the required timeframe, the company reserves the right to:
- suspend or restrict account access
- decline withdrawal requests
- report the matter to the relevant regulatory authority where required by law
If verification shows that:
- false or misleading information was provided
- the player is below the minimum legal age
- the player is listed on a self-exclusion list or prohibited-persons register
the account is permanently closed. Any balance held in such an account is handled in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements, which may include forfeiture or return of funds, depending on the circumstances.
9. Contact
Questions regarding the verification process or the status of a submitted verification request should be directed to the Brantford compliance team through the support channels listed on the Contact page of this site.
Players should include their registered account username and a brief description of the query. Copies of identity documents should not be attached to general support enquiries.
